Everything you want in a moving company. They were skilled, prepared, professional, timely and careful. Very thankful we chose Metcalf! Their pricing was comparable to other companies yet they provided an additional crew member and had quick availability. Their team moved large appliances and a piano with ease. We highly recommend and will use their services again.

Ryan took the initial survey and he was great, friendly, and professional. The day of the move there were two movers - one tall guy and another shorter guy. I never got their names. The tall guy was overall very abrasive from the start, while the short guy was always really friendly. One of the first things the tall guy said was that we wouldn't make the estimated time and he didn't understand how it was determined, etc... (spoiler: we made time). While moving, I heard a loud noise, like something falling down all the stairs. I asked if something broke and they said "nope, nothing broke." (See attached picture, showing broken piece off of an expensive table). When we finished moving to the new place, I tip handsomely (as I always do) and that did seem to change the tall guy's demeanor.

You likely had some amount of coverage on your move that would entitle you to repair or reimbursement of some kind. That obviously does not account for the demeanor of the one crew member, but we will look into that internally as well. Thanks again.

Absolutely amazing guys who worked so hard and were so accommodating. I was dreading this day of unloading our goods, which had been in storage for a month after our move from Oregon to Minnesota. But they made me feel so well cared for and event entertained! They may cost a little more than "Chuck with a truck" but it was worth every penny. Nothing broken. They re-assembled everything and moved things around in the house when we changed our minds without ever making us feel guilty. They are, simply, the best ever!

Shout out to my driver, Chuck, who helped with forgotten items. The man saved my bacon! Service way up and beyond, THANK YOU, Chuck! Steve their estimator was also very accurate and professional. Moving never fun but these gents saved it from being awful...

Horrible experience. Showed up late for both pickup and delivery and did not have enough crew to do the job on either end. Broke several items. Their replacement value guarantee is a total fraud. They will only pay you for your original purchase price, if you kept your purchase receipt. With antiques and older furniture, etc. you are out of luck. If they lose the item in transit, you get zero. They lost several boxes of items of ours. We suspect they were stolen by employees. We received nothing in compensation.

Terrible. Acts as a third party mover for mayflower. Picked up our belongings and neglected to tell us during the quote that they were having problems getting truckers to move our things across country. Still neglected to tell us this fact until after they picked up our belongings, so everything was in limbo. They wanted to deliver in the only window when we were not available, even though it was expressed prior to pickup that we would not be there to receive our things. Because of this, they claimed not to have to refund any money as their contract states. Their "fix" was not to charge us for holding our things longer than the delivery window. They got their money and tried to make us think we should be thanking them for not charging us more for storage. I paid them nearly $12K for them to fumble our things around so much that a bunch of things were broken. 100% would never use these people if you like good value, your belongings intact, and your sanity in place.

We’re sorry to hear you’re disappointed with your move. Because you were unavailable during the agreed upon delivery window, we had to adjust the initial plan. Summer is the busiest time of the year and leaves little in the way of flexibility, but, as a gesture, we rescheduled your delivery and temporarily stored your items over the holiday weekend for your convenience and at no additional cost.

Moving is expensive, and I am convinced the move with Metcalf was worth the price. On both ends of the move, the company was responsive, professional, and on time. This was my second cross-country move with Metcalf, so I am a believer. Most companies I explored either could not do what Metcalf did or were non-responsive. I would be hard pressed to name my second choice, which is another way of saying Metcalf really stood out.

Mayflower via Metcalf moved me from Minneapolis to Houston during Hurricane Harvey.
The estimator was friendly and thorough, answering all of my questions and reassuring me along the way. The bid was binding which also left me feeling like I wouldn't get the old bait and switch.
The driver and his loaders (2) were careful and cautious with my belongings. I packed all of my items with the exception of larger furniture items. So they just needed to put them in the truck. It took a little less than 8 hrs to load my 3 bedroom home.
The driver had great communications along the way. Harvey was predicted to hit the day my possessions were to arrive. So the driver called and kept me informed that he wasn't allowed to enter Houston because of flooding. As soon as the weather cleared he delivers the goods on a Sunday, no less.
The local unloading team (2) was efficient and professional. It took them about 4.5 hours to unload. No damage to the house.
NO damage, nothing missing no banged up boxes. Everything was done well. I would absolutely recommend Metcalf for long distance move!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

We moved on short notice and Metcalf was the only mover that could handle all of our needs. The estimator (Aaron) that came to our house was very professional, sociable and friendly. He did a great job of listening to us, explaining the process and answering all of our questions. The estimate was very reasonable. Aaron also did a great job of updating us on the status of our paperwork. The customer service rep from Metcalf also did a great job of updating us on the status of our loads (we had a vehicle that had to be shipped separately from the rest of our belongings). I have no complaints about the office staff at Metcalf, they were fantastic!
The packers that came were interesting to say the least. One smelled of alcohol both days he was at our house. His methodology in packing boxes was questionable at best. Items were mixed between rooms and the labeling of the boxes had little to do with the contents. The other must have been paid by the number of sheets of packing paper he used. He was overly cautious, which was fine.
Our possessions all went to the Metcalf warehouse as there were no large trucks available at the time. At the warehouse there was some repacking of some of our items (I'm guessing to tighten the load up for easier movement).
The load arrived 6 days after the guaranteed window, which Mayflower compensated us for. During the unpacking we found many items were damaged (mostly due to poor packing). Mayflower sent out a rep to evaluate the damage and compensated us for that as well.

I only wish there were more stars to give the entire team who helped our family move 2,000 miles and ensured it was a positive experience. From the gent (Steve) who assessed how much space we needed and made sure there was enough room on the truck and the timing would work to our coordination efforts by (Donnet) for full communication down to our truck driver (Dean) - they all did an amazing job. Especially Dean and his teams on both sides handling our worldly possessions. We are the nit picky people who obsess on every tiny detail and I am here to tell you this is the company to hire if you are making the long distance move. They are not the cheapest option, but they are worth every assurance and the professionalism they brought to our experience. Look no further if you like great customer service from a pro team.
