MSP Mingle provides professionals of color with the opportunity to expand their networks and deepen relationships with members of the business community in a relaxed social setting. Join BE MSP for Reflections on Home, a special performance by the Grammy-winning Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra featuring the world premiere of Say Home, a new piece that incorporates audio recordings from interviews with 50 members of the local community sharing their feelings on what home means to them. This piece will explore different perspectives on home from several members of our community, some who’ve spent their entire lives here in the MSP region, and some who have recently moved from elsewhere to make the MSP region their new home. This performance is part of the SPCO’s inaugural Tapestry19 Festival, which uses the language of music to explore issues faced by the Twin Cities community and invites members of the community to lend their voices and viewpoints to the exploration.
Before the concert, mingle with fellow professionals of color at a reception with complimentary appetizers and cash bar at 317 on Rice Park!
The Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce and the Make It. MSP. initiative are excited to engage everyone in this performance, as we continue to explore how to make the MSP region feel like home for our diverse talent.

Tell Me More About the Professional of Color Initiative Recently ranked the best state in the nation for business, Minnesota is an amazing place to live and work. However, we face a glaring retention problem for new hires, particularly those of color. Data shows that the Minneapolis-Saint Paul region does not retain professionals of color at the same rate as white professionals. In a joint initiative, Make It. MSP. Initiative, the Minneapolis Regional Chamber, and the Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce (SPACC) are committed to offering action-oriented solutions for keeping talented professionals of color in this region.
Through events focused on making connections, we will strengthen the network of professionals of color in the Twin Cities. We know that the stronger these communities are, the more likely new hires of color will remain in the region long term.
In addition to events, a cross-sector team is developing actions organizations can take to improve the region for professionals of color.
