Leaders in Local Government Awards Luncheon

On Wednesday, September 12, the Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce and East Metro Chamber partners will host the annual Leaders in Local Government Awards Luncheon, formerly known as the Political Leadership Luncheon. Join us as we honor four organizations and an Elected Official of Note in the east metro who exemplify and demonstrate innovation, excellence and success in local government. Click here to see photos from last year's Political Leadership Luncheon.

 Keynote Speaker, Julie Kleinschmidt
Julie Kleinschmidt has served as County Manager since December 2008. Before this appointment, Kleinschmidt served as Ramsey County finance director for eight years. She has more than 20 years of experience in government management and finance. This includes her time as Controller of Minnesota's most populous county, Hennepin. Kleinschmidt, a CPA, is the first woman to serve as Ramsey County Manager.

Emcee: Brian Bakst, Minnesota Public Radio
Brian Bakst covers politics and government for Minnesota Public Radio News. He has been stationed at the Capitol for two decades, the last few years with MPR and with The Associated Press before that. He’s covered a former pro-wrestler turned governor, a pair of presidential hopefuls and more standoffs and shutdowns than he cares to admit. Originally from New York and later Wisconsin, Brian has now spent more than half of his life in Minnesota.

Nominees will be selected based on the contributions with respect to innovative initiatives and public policies that advance the public good and demonstrate a commitment to efficient and progressive government.
